About the project.
Project Requirement & Process
Consul were appointed by a Private Client to prepare and submit planning drawings for a planning application that included the replacement of windows to a Flat. The flat was a 1st floor flat in a Victorian Terraced property located within the London borough of Ealing.
Consul arranged a suitable appointment to attend property and carry out a measured survey on the building including detailed measurements of the existing windows. Utilising this information, we were able to draft elevation drawings of the front and rear of the property as part of the planning application. As the property fell within a conservation area, we also developed a heritage statement and submitted all of this information along with the application form to the Planners and ultimately achieved Planning permission for our Client.

Survey Scope
To complete the survey, we arranged access to the rear of the property via the basement flat and took detailed measurements of the building including window and door sizes in order to accurately draw the elevations on CAD. As the property was in a conservation area, we also took detailed measurements of the windows in order to draw these in a 1:20 scale so the planners could assess the difference between the existing and proposed windows.
Challenges
Proposed windows
The Client had independently arranged a Contractor to install the windows and when the Planners required changes to these windows to grant planning, obtaining information/confirmations from the manufacturer/installer proved difficult.
Solution
Proposed windows
We liaised directly with the Window installer to obtain the details and confirmation required to achieve planning permission.
Result & Benefits to our Client
Consul were able to work with the Client and their contractor to obtain the required information in addition to our own findings in order to achieve planning permission.
